Chapter 3

Chapter 18

A jealousy-fueled scene that is equal parts sweet and scorching. Xaden gets wildly jealous – not of another man, but of basically anything that touches Violet besides him. At last! The slow burn ignites in a big way. After a sudden heated kiss in Chapter 24, Violet and Xaden finally consummate their relationship in Chapter 25. They're away on a remote island with no magic, meaning Xaden's venin urges are dampened – and they seize the chance for a night of passion. This scene is an open-door sex scene, described in delicious detail. Full throttle spice! This entire chapter is a dedicated open-door sex scene, picking up where 48 left off. Expect passionate lovemaking with all the flowery (or should we say fiery) descriptions on-page. It's equal parts tender and desperate – as if both know it might be their "last hurrah" for a while. Intimacy type: explicit sex, emotionally charged. Plot relevance: This moment of bliss comes right before the book's climax (in more ways than one!) and serves as a poignant calm before the storm.
